This accordion book was created to tell a story or experience about food. I chose to do mine off of a podcast that I listened to by Dr. Mark Hyman who is a functional medicine doctor at the Cleveland Clinic. In recent years there has been a lot of confusion about food and unhealthy diets. A lot of people feel lost and don’t know where to turn. Sugar in particular has been at the front of the news with new no-sugar diets, sugar-free foods, and hundreds of names for sugar. I created this accordion book to be an educational tool for people of all ages and therefore included young, simple, and playful colors in addition to a sans serif and easy-to-read typeface. I wanted to display one of the main ideas from the podcast that not all sugars are bad. It's the sugar that is added by corporations that cause the issue. I included information such as the various names for sugar and the concept of eating real whole foods. I chose to use a mix of both organic and geometric shapes to show the contrast between processed and organic foods and this piece was created using both Photoshop and Illustrator.
